Join Denise Jackson for a portrait workshop to help you capture the personality of your chosen subject.

Explore techniques for representing the likeness and character of your subject and receive guidance on composition, proportion and colour.

In this hands on session you’ll…

• Be introduced to the fundamentals of portrait art and what makes a portrait compelling.
• See examples of past Young Archies winners for inspiration.
• Get tips on basic anatomy and the proportions of the face.
• Practice how to get your hand and eye to work together to capture the likeness of your subject.
• Find out how you can convey personality through pose, expression, background and colour choices.

All materials supplied

Participants are asked to bring along a photograph of their subject to work from (A person that is special to them, known to them personally and plays a significant role in their life). Participants may also choose to do a self-portrait- if so bring along a photograph of yourself.

This workshop is suitable for children ages 5 and up (participants under 10 must be supervised by an adult). 

Class size is limited – bookings essential.
