Returning in November 2026, the third biennial MAP Portrait Prize will open on 27 November 2026 and run through to 21 February 2027.

The Mudgee Arts Precinct Portrait Prize invites submissions from Australian artists working in any medium. All artists are welcome – whether you’re just beginning your creative journey or are an established arts professional, we encourage you to enter.

While final prize details are still being confirmed, categories will once again include:

  • Overall Best Portrait Prize
  • Mid‑Western Region Best Local Artist Prize

Since its launch in 2022, the MAP Portrait Prize has attracted more than 26,000 visitors and showcased 150 outstanding finalists, chosen from over 500 entries. It has quickly become one of our most anticipated and well‑attended exhibitions, celebrating the remarkable talent of artists from our region and across Australia.
