David Squires Youth Portrait Workshop
Create your Next Gen Portrait Prize entry in this cartooning workshop with David Squires
David Squires is an internationally regarded cartoonist who works for the Guardian and several European publications. Based in Mudgee David's work can be seen each week in The Guardian, as well as the French sports magazine L'Équipe and the German soccer magazine 11Freunde. His work regularly captures the likeness of some of the world’s best-known faces with just a few lines.
This workshop will be delivered over 2 days with David guiding participants to create a work for this year’s MAP Portrait Prize and/or Next Gen Youth Portrait Prize.
In this workshop, David will share some of his experiences and insights before demonstrating his process for capturing the essence of a face. Participants will then have an opportunity to use David’s knowledge and expertise as they begin to plan and create their entry for the 2024 Mudgee Portrait Prize.
This workshop is open to children 10 – 18 years of age.
